كون اللغة كائناً حياً متطوراً يجعلنا ننظر في ألفاظ هذه الحياة الأولي فنجد ظاهرة تدعو إلى التأمل والنظر، إنها في عدد كبير منها أحادية المقطع فيما سجل من الآثار المصرية، وهي كذلك في المعاجم العربية، أو حتى العروبية القديمة، ذلك لأن الإنسان فى بداية عهد سحيق في القدم كان يعبر بالمقطع الواحد عن أمر ما ( فهو لا يزال فى مرحلة الحيوانية لم تتطور أدوات الكلام لديه). ثم نمت قدراته واستعت مداركه وتطورت أدواته الصوتية والعقلية فجاءة مرحلة ( الجذر الثنائي) أوضح ما تكون في العربية العدنانية، وهي مرحلة متطورة جداً ربما يمكننا القول إنها "مرحلة الكمال" وفي هذه المرحلة العليا نزل القرآن الكريم في أكمل صورة لفظاً ودلالة، ومن قبلة كان ما جرت العادة على تسميته (الشعر الجاهلى) أى شعر ما قبل الإسلام، وتدل تركيباته وألفاظه على أن العربية إبانها كانت قد بلغت حداً عالياً من التطور والنمو جعل منها لغة بالغة الرقي والقدرة على التعبير الدقيق فى مختلف نواحي الحياة البيئية التي كان يحياها عرب الجزيزة. وفي هذا المعجم ندرس ونتأمل العلاقة بين العربية والمصرية القديمة.
