والتصور العقلي يتضمن إستدعاء أو إستحضار أو إسترجاع الذاكرة للأشياء أو المظاهر المختزنة من واقع الخبرة الماضية ومن ناحية أخرى لا يقتصر التصور فقط على مجرد الإستدعاء لهذه الخبرات بل يعمل على إنشاء وإحداث أفكار وخبرات جديد من خلال تعديله وإنتاجه صور وأفكار جديدة بناءاً على القديمة.
