يحتوي بلدُنا العديد من الآثار التاريخيّة على نطاق واسع؛ ويرجع ذلك إلى تعايش شعوب مختلفة فيه، والتي توزّعت على كافّة أرجائه منذ القدم، وقد ترك كلّ شعب مجموعة من الآثار، بينما اختفت هذه الشعوب شيئاً فشيئاً عن مسرح التاريخ.
وقد سعى كلّ فرع من العلوم إلى أن ينظر إلى هذه الشعوب وآثارها ومختلف المسائل المرتبطة بها من زاويته الخاصّة؛ فقد اهتمت بعض الفروع العلمية بدراستها من وجهة نظر إثنيّة (علم الأعراق)، ودُرسَت في فروع أخرى من زاوية لسانيّة لغويّة، وحقّق فيها فرع ثالث من وجهة نظر تاريخيّة وجغرافيّة.
وأما على المستوى الفقهيّ - بإعتباره أحد فروع العلوم الإنسانيّة - فقد تمّت دراسة التراث الثقافي لبيان الأحكام الشرعيّة المتعلّقة به، وسعى إلى تقصّي أبعاده الحقوقيّة من منظار الشرع.
