إن موضوع أخلاقيات البحث العلمي موضوع قديم جديد طالما أن البحث العلمي يعد ممارسة لإستمرار الحياة والحضارة، ولطالما كان مقياساً لرقي الشعوب وتقدمها، لا بل إنه المناص الذي لا مناص منه، فقد تسابقت أمم وشعوب على أن يحكم البحث العلمي بقواعد أخلاقية، سواء تلك القواعد التي تحدد المسارات الأمنية أو تلك التي لا تدع المجال لعلم غير نافع.
فقد سبر غورها فلاسفة وكتاب وباحثون، فهذا أفلاطون وقبل أكثر من ثلاثة آلاف سنة جعل الأخلاق قاعدة المعرفة، وتلك الدارونية الإجتماعية التي استندت إلى قانون الإنتخاب الطبيعي لدارون الذي أكد فلسفة البقاء للأصلح، وجاءت الفلسفة الميكافيلية وعلى حد وصف نيكولاي ميكافيلي لتضع مؤشرات أخلاقية تنبع من فهم خاص لمفهوم الأخلاق يؤكد فعل أي شيء لكسب العمل.
ولقد تسلسلت فصول هذا الكتاب على وفق بابين، تضمن الباب الأول أراء نقدية لأخلاقيات البحث العلمي وبعض مناهجه وأركانه ومن خلال أربعة فصول، فيما تضمن الباب الثاني محاولات بنائية لعدد من المقاييس السلوكية المعتمدة في حقل السلوك التنظيمي وحقل إدارة الموارد البشرية، وبهذا تألف الكتاب من اثنى عشر فصلاً.
تناول الفصل الأول أخلاقيات البحث العلمي بما في ذلك الأخلاق من منظورات فلسفية والدساتير والقواعد الأخلاقية للبحث العلمي والمبادئ الأساسية المصاحبة لتخطيط البحث العلمي، أما الفصل الثاني فقد تطرق إلى موضوع أداة القياس المستعملة في البحوث السلوكية على مستوى شائع، وقد جاء الفصل الرابع ليطرح أفكار منهجية حديثة في البحث العلمي السلوكي وأهم الإشكاليات التي يقع فيها الباحثين، ليبدأ الفصل الخامس بمحاولات بناء مقاييس سلوكية لأهم الموضوعات المعاصرة في حقول الأعمال وهو نظام المناعة التنظيمية ليليه الفصل السادس الذي يؤطر فكرياً ضغوط العمل في مجال التعليم العالي لينتهي ببناء مقياس خاص بمؤسسات التعليم العالي من خلال محاولة بحثية اسفرت عن نتائج مهمة.
أما الفصل السابع من الكتاب فقد توجه لقياس إستراتيجية التمكين في منظمات الأعمال بعد أن جرى التمهيد نظرياً لهذه الإستراتيجية، أما الفصل التاسع فقد انطلق لتشخيص موضوع طالما تجاهلته الادبيات من خلال إشارات خجولة له إلا وهو موضوع التغذية الراجعة وتشخيص أساليبها وإمكانية قياسها.
أطر الفصل العاشر محاولة لقياس الذاكرة التنظيمية بعد تغطية موسعة عن فلسفتها وأطرها وأهميتها ثم الفصل الحادي عشر الذي جاء بمحاولة لقياس الثقة بالآخرين، لينتهي الكتاب بفصل أخير وهو الفصل الثاني عشر الذي حاول قياس واقع البصمة الوراثية التنظيمية (DNA) لمنظمات الأعمال العراقية.
