الخطاب الشعري عند فيصل العدواني ينتمي أولاً وأخيراً إلى الإنسان، وإلى سجايا خاصة بالشاعر، تمثل أفقاً فارقاً لاستبطان الذات، وصيغة للحياة والسلوك والبحث عن الإنسان الذي بداخله، ولأن الشاعر إبن عصره، فهو منحاز دائماً إلى فكرة أو مشروع أو رؤية، يقولها شعراً، والكتابة في "حاول تكون" لا يمكن أن تقرأ مجرد شعوراً يربط الإنسان بأخيه الإنسان، بل بالعالم المحيط، سواء كان محيطاً بشرياً، أو حتى سياقاً عابراً أو مؤقتاً، ولعل قراءة القصيدة المعنونة بـ "حاول تكون" التي يفتتح بها العدواني مجموعته تشي بالمعنى الذي يرومه الشاعر وحكمته عن القصيدة.
"عط عمرك الراحة وريّح ضميرك / لا يهمك اللي في تعثرك يسعون ، حقك أبد ما يأخذه شخص غيرك / كان نكتب لك حق والله يبطون ، وحدك تحدد وش هو تالي مصيرك / "حاول تكون اللي تبي دائم تكون".
وعلى هذا المنوال يمضي خطاب الشاعر إلى أخيه الإنسان، عبر رؤى حياتية تتجدد مع كل ولادة قصيدة جديدة، وإذا ما استحضرنا واحدة من نظريات النقد الحديث التي ترى "بأنه لا شيء عبر الإبداع يُقصد مثلما يُقصد المبدعُ نفسه"، فإن العدواني وحده من يملك المشروعية في فكفكة ملامح نصه وغايته النهائية، والتي لن نكتشفها سوى مع آخر قصيدة.
يضم الكتاب قصائد في الشعر العربي الحديث الموزون والمقفى وأخرى في الشعر العربي الحديث نذكر من العناوين: "حاول تكون" ، "عديت حزينك" ، "شد حيلك في جروحي" ، "غير الموضوع" ، "نبض" ، "استمعت الصمت" (...) وقصائد أخرى.
