لم يكن بين المسلمين الأولين جدل في شأن من ش ئون العقيدة وذلك لأنهم يستقون عقيدتهم من الكتاب والسنة رأسا ولذا فأن جل استفساراتهم كانت ترجع الى ماوراء عمل.
على أن الاسلام فيما يعد دهمته ريح عانيه غيرت وجه الاتجاهات الروحية فظهرت فتن الخروج على الامام على بن أبى طالب- رضى الله عنه والواقع ان الجدل حول الخلافة كان أساسا فى الواقع لكثير من الخلافات التى ظهرت فيما بعد ومن ذلك مادار من جدل حول القضاء والقدر، وحول مرتكب الكبيرة، وحول الكسب الاختيارى، وهل الانسان مخير فى افعال أو مسير؟ كما خاضوا أيضا فى صفات الله سبحانه وتعالى. وهل كلامه قديم أم حادث؟ وهذا الدراسة الموجزة تتناول الخوارج تلك الفرقة التى أثرت فى نظرنا على مسار التاريخ الإسرمى، وقد قسمنا الكتاب إلى :
القسم التاريخى "الباب الأول" ويدور حول عدة فصول:
الفصل الأول: ويدور حول الاصول التاريخية للخوارج
الفصل الثانى: ويدور حول فكرة الخلافة.
وأما القسم العقائدى فهو قسم الاكبر ركزنا فيه جهودنا، وكرسنا فيه عملنا وهو "الباب الثانى" ويتكون من عدة فصول منها ما يتناول المذهب العام للخوارج، وهناك عدة فصول تناول أهم فرقهم، واخيراً أختمنا الدراسة بحكم أئمة الاسلام على الخوارج.
