أثارت إتفاقية (سيداو) الدولية المعنية بحرية المرأة، التي وقعت عليها دول العالم المختلفة، والتي تنص على "القضاء على جميع أشكال التمييز ضد المرأة"، جدلاً ونقاشاً واسعاً في المجتمعات العربية، ومنها الأردن، ورغم تحفظ الأردن على مادتين في الإتفاقية قبل مصادقة البرلمان عليها، إلا أنها بقيت محل إهتمام واسع، سواء من الجانب الرسمي أو المجتمعي.
لذا، عملت هذه الدراسة، بإستخدام منهج تحليل المضمون، على تحليل الكيفية التي عالجت بها الصحافة اليومية الأردنية بأطيافها المختلفة (الرسمية، والخاصة، والحزبية) هذه الإتفاقية للفترة الممتدة بين 2012- 2014، وعرضت المناقشات المتعلقة بها، وبينت موقفها منها - بإعتبار أن الصحافة تعكس تضاريس الرأي العام وتوجهاته.
