في هذا الكتاب مجموعة من الأبحاث الهدف منها وضع لبنات في البناء التشريعي والأخلاقي لمهنة الطب، وعل من المفيد أن نذكر أن نذكر أن هذه القضايا وهي خمس مسائل اجتهادية لم تتناولها أدلة تفصيلية خاصة بها، لأن أكثرها مسائل مستجدة ولم يسبق البحث فيها حيث هي وليدة التقدم العلمي والاكتشافات المعاصرة، بعضها بحث فيه قديماً ولكن دخلت عليه اعتبارات جديدة.
البحث الأول وعنوانه "تحديد بداية الحياة الإنسانية ونهايتها في ضوء النصوص الشرعية واجتهادات علماء المسلمين حاول طرح قضيتين: الأول: تحديد اللحظة التي تبدأ فيها الحياة الإنسانية، هل هي لحظة العلوق أن هي لحظة نفخ الروح في الجنين أم غيرها؟ والثانية تحديد اللحظة التي تنتهي عندها حياة الإنسان: هل هي لحظة موت الدماغ أم هي لحظة توقف القلب عن الخفقان أم غير ذلك؟
والبحث الثاني وعنوانه "حقيقة الجنين وحكم الانتفاع في زراعة الأعضاء وإجراء التجارب العلمية حاول طرح مسألة جواز زرع الأعضاء من وجهة النظر الشرعية وذلك من خلال مبحثين: الأول تحدث عن حقيقة الجنيني في مختلف أطواره، والثاني توقف عند المسوغات والمصالح والضوابط التي يجب توفرها لإهدار تلك الحرمة.
والبحث الثالث طرح قضية آنية وهي بعض الأمراض والآفات التي تصيب جسد الإنسان، تكون ناشئة عن تلف بعض الأعضاء، ولا يمكن علاجها إلا باستبدال عضو سليم بالعضو التالف، ولا سبيل إلى العضو السليم إلا بانتزاعه من آدمي حي أو ميت، وأن الأطباء قد نجحوا في عمليات زرع الأعضاء، إلى حد كبير فهل يجوز شرعاً تبرع الأفراد بأعضائهم؟ وهل يجوز للأطباء تنفيذ ما يقتضيه ذلك من نزع الأعضاء وزرعها؟
والبحث الرابع توقف عند حكم الإجهاض وبين آراء الفقهاء المسلمين فيه ورجح رأي محدد في حكمه بالنظر إلى حقيقة الجنين ومقاصد الشرع، و البحث الأخير تحدث عن خصوصية غشاء البكارة، وبين موقف الشرع من عملية إصلاحه ومدى مشروعية هذه العملية.
