لما كانت الصلاة على الحبيب صلى الله عليه وسلم من أكمل الطاعات وأفضل القربات وأرجى الوسائل، استكثر المسلمون منها، وتعددت على مرِّ عصورِهم صيغُها، وكان للسادة الصوفية الأعلام النصيبُ الأوفرُ في صياغة مثل هذه الصلوات، مدحاً للمصطفى صلى الله عليه وسلم وثناءً عليه، وتعدادًا لخصاله وسجاياه الكريمة، وتعبيراً عما كشف الله عز وجل لهم من لطائف نورانية ومعارف ربانية متعلقة بحقيقته صلى الله عليه وسلم. وتأتي صلوات السيد أحمد بن إدريس نموذجاً منيفاً لمثل هذه الصيغ النورانية المباركة، التي تجعل من الحقائق الأحمدية المحمدية محوراً لها.
