حرص المسلمون على مرّ عصورهم وامتداد أقطارهم على إقامة مجالس الذكر، وتسابق علماؤهم وصلحاؤهم في جمع الأذكار القرآنية والنبوية، وشرح ما رتَّبه الشارع على كل منها، وبيان فضل الذكر، وتوضيح آدابه.
ويمثّل الكتاب الذي بين أيدينا أنموذجاً لهذا الاحتفاء بالذكر، حيث يضم مجموعة الأذكار القرآنية والنبوية التي تخيَّرها وجمعها العلامة الشيخ أحمد زرُّوق الفاسي (ت 899 ﻫــ) والتي اشتهرت باسم "الوظيفة الزروقية"، مع شرحها للشيخ أحمد السجاعي الأزهري (ت 1197 ﻫــ)، وكذلك ذكر أدلتها من السنة النبوية المطهرة للشيخ عبد الرحمن البنا الساعاتي (ت 1378 ﻫــ).
