منذ عقود والأستاذ محمود محمود الغراب يبذل جهوداً كبيرة مشكورة في نشر جوانب من تراث الشيخ محيي الدين ابن العربي، وقد نبّه وحذر من الكتب المنسوبة إليه خطأ؛ وهو مُحق جزئياً في هذا التحذير.
ومن المؤسف أن الكثير منها يتكرر طبعه ونشره حتى من طرف محبين للشيخ، أو من يُسمّون أنفسهم "متخصصين" في تحقيق كتبه، لكن في المقابل، من المؤسف أيضاً، أن يغلو الأستاذ محمود محمود الغراب غلواً كبيراً، فيبالغ في نفي نسبة كتب للشيخ، نسبتها إليه صحيحة قطعاً عند كبار العلماء العارفين بتراثه.
لكن الأدهى، هو نفي نسبة أشهر كتب الشيخ، بعد "الفتوحات المكية"، إليه، أي كتاب "فصوص الحكم" الذي توالت عليه شروح أكبر المتخصصين في تراث الشيخ من أهل مدرسته، منذ القرن السابع إلى يومنا هذا، ولم يشكك أحد منهم في صحّة نسبته إليه.
وخلاصة بحثه قوله: ... "ويتضح للقارئ والمحقق أن كتاب "فصوص الحكم" الذي تصحّ نسبته إلى الشيخ الأكبر ليس هو هذا الكتاب الموجود بين أيدينا الآن، وأنّ هذه النسخة الموجودة قد تناولها التصحيف والتحريف..."
وفي هذا الكتاب ردود مفصّلة على جميع حججه المزعومة لإثبات هذه الدعوى الخاطئة، وهذا ببيان أن جميع ما في الفصوص لا يتناقض مع ما في كتب الشيخ الأخرى خصوصاً "الفتوحات المكية".
