الناس مختلفون، في دوافعهم، سلوكياتهم، وفي قراراتهم، وفي قابلياتهم أيضاً، وهذه الاختلافات بين الأشخاص ليست عشوائية، وغالباً قابلة للتنبؤ. وهذا الكتاب يعتمد نموذجاً قوياً ومعروفاً في علم النفس يُسمّى "الأنماط الشخصية" مأخوذ من نظرية للعالم السويسري "يونغ" واستخدم في الكثير من الأعمال التجارية، وفي التعليم، وفي الاستشارات وغيرها. من هذا المنطلق جاءت هذه الدراسة في ثلاثة أقسام لتقدم للقارئ خصائص الشخصية عند الآخرين، وكيفية التواصل معهم بطريقة أكثر تأثيراً وفاعلية. يزودك القسم الأول بأسس الأنماط الشخصية ويساعدك للتعرف على نمطك الخاص، أما في القسم الثاني فتتعلم كيف تقرأ الناس بسرعة حيث ستتعرف على مفاتيح الخصائص الشخصية للآخرين مُعتمداً على إشارات متعددة تتعلق بمظهرهم، ولغتهم اللفظية، ولغة الجسم، والعمل والاهتمامات وغيرها. ويأتي القسم الثالث والأخير بعنوان "معرفة الأنماط الستة عشر" وفيه معلومات عن هذه الأنماط كلٌّ على حِدة، ومن خلال الكتاب سنجد كثيراً من الأمثلة من الحياة الواقعية من قوائم وجداول مفيدة، وشروحات بيانية كلها مُصمّمة لجعل قراءة الكتاب ممتعة، وقيمة، وتجربة تدريبية، وتعليمية أيضاً. ما يريد أن يقوله "الصبان" هو أن أهم دافع لك هو أن تعرف نفسك! لأن الذي لا يُقدِّر نفسه لا يُقَدِّر غيره، وإذا عرفت نفسك استطعت أن ترتقي بها، وتُحسِن اختيار العمل المناسب لك، بل وتُحسن اختيار شريك حياتك! وتنجح في تواصلك مع الآخرين، وتُقلِّص من نقاط ضعفك وتنتبه إليها. هذا كتاب موجه لكل أب ومعلم ومربي وموظف يقدم الأساس الإيجابي لعملية التفاعل مع الآخرين والتأثير فيهم والنهوض بهم سلوكياً وثقافياً وعلمياً. وبه سوف تنتقل من حالة اللامعرفة إلى دائرة معرفة الناس ومن دائرة الانفعال إلى دائرة التفاعل والفاعلية، ومن دائرة الرفض والكراهية إلى دائرة القبول والتعايش الإيجابي.
