يقول المصنف في مقدمة كتابه أن ما حدا به إلى اختيار "اختلاف الدارين وأثره في أحكام المناكحات والمعاملات" كموضوع لرسالته التي قدمها لنيل درجة الدكتوراه هو أنه لم يجد أحداً من الفقهاء القدامى قد تطرق إلى هذا الموضوع في كتاب مستقل، بل وجد أن بعضاً منهم قد عالجه في المناسبات؛ وفرقه في مسائل مختلفة؛ كما أنه لم يجد أحداً من العلماء المحدثين قد تناول هذا الموضوع تناولاً خاصاً موازناً بين آراء الفقهاء في مختلف المذاهب الفقهية: هذا الأمر هو الذي دفعه إلى التطرق لهذا الموضوع الهام والشائك في آن معاً. أما عن تحديده للمنهج الذي التزمه فيقول أنه قد التزم ببحثه هذا بالنصوص الشرعية؛ دون تعصبه لرأي معين أو تقليد بعيد عن الحق.
كما أنه قام بعرض المسائل المتعلقة بالموضوع معتمداً على آراء أهل العلم والفقهاء وأقوالهم فيها من مختلف المذاهب الإسلامية وعلى الأخص المذاهب الفقهية الأربعة متوخياً الدقة في الفهم والاستنباط والأمانة في النقل والتصرف، مع الحرص على أن تكون الأقوال من أئمة المذاهب أنفسهم أو المعتمدين في المذاهب، وأن يكون مصدرها كتبهم.
ثم ذكر بعد ذلك أدلة كل رأي وما ورد عليها من نقد أو تضعيف، ومن ثم رجح من أقوالهم وآرائهم ما بدا له أنه الراجح بعد الدراسة والمناقشة، مستنداً إلى الأدلة القوية ثم العلل المعقولة. أما خطته فقد تجلت بتقسيمه الموضوع إلى مقدمة وباب تمهيدي وثلاثة أبواب. في المقدمة ذكر أهمية هذا الموضوع، وبيّن الأسباب التي حملته على اختياره ليكون موضوع رسالته هذه. أما الباب التمهيدي فتناول فيه معنى اختلاف الدارين ومفهوم المناكحات والمعاملات. في حين تناول في الباب الأول مسألة اختلاف الدارين وأثره في أحكام كل من الزواج والعدة والنفقات. أما الباب الثاني فتناول فيه اختلاف الدارين وأثره في أحكام كل من الوصية والوقف والميراث والشهادات. أما الباب الثالث والأخير فقد خصصه للكلام عن اختلاف الدارين وأثره في أحكام المعاملات المالية والتجارية.
