نحن إزاء مسرحية تعتمد التاريخ لكنها غير تاريخية، لأن صاحبنا أنطونيو جالا يريد أ، يقدم لنا تاريخ أميرة بلنسية: السيدة خمينا، فقد أعفاه مئونة هذه التبعة المؤرخون، قدماء ومحدثون، لكنه اتخذ التاريخ وعاء، وتعامل مع الرواية الشعبية كما وصلت اليه عن طريق الشاعر الجوال في "ملحمة السيد".ولم تحترم مسرحيته التاريخ بمعناه الحرفي، بل إنها تعارض التاريخ، ولذا كتبها "بالكلمات الصغرى" عكس التاريخ الذي كتب "بالكلمات الكبرى" كما يشير المؤلف إلى ذلك ساخراً، وإلا فإن الحب- كما تقول خمينا- إحدى الكلمات الكبرى، وربما رأى بعض الناقدين في هذه المسرحية سوء إستخدام للتاريخ الذي ينظر إليه الإسبان نظرة القداسة خاصة ما يتعلق ببطلهم "السيد".
