ولم يكن دانتي أليجيري Dante Alighieri كذلك هو ثاني من قام برحلته الرائعة إلى الدار الآخرة، في رائعته الخالدة: الكوميديا الإلهية، مع القرن الرابع عشر، وبعد المعري بثلاثة قرون.
إن المصريين القدماء، هم أول من عبروا الحياة الدنيا إلى ساحة الآخرة في حياتهم، وأفكارهم وأعمالهم، حيث تصوروا الفردوس بما فيه من نعيم، والجحيم بما تحتويه من عذاب.. وفي ديانة "بابل" تهبط "عشتروت" إلى الجحيم، وفي التراث اليوناني القديم نشهد "هوميروس".
لكن العمل الضخم المتكامل في عالم الفكر الإنساني بوجه عام هو رحلة أبي العلاء ودانتي إلى الدار الآخرة مع رسالة الغفران والكوميديا الإلهية، وإذا كنا نتفق على أن هناك عملًا آخر متواضعًا قدمه الحارث المحاسبي الصوفي العالم، المتوفى سنة 243هـ=857م، قبل المعري بقرنين كاملين، وذلك في رسالته (التوهم) التي تخيل أو توهم فيها، رحلة إلى العالم الآخر في صور ساذجة أغلبها مقتبس من مشاهد ليلة الغسراء والمعراج..
أقول إذا كنا نعتبر هذا محاولة سابقة للمعري ودانتي فإن العمل المتكامل حقًا، هو ما أبدعه بعبقرية ليس لها نظير، ذلك البصير العملاق أبو العلاء، وذلك البصير العملاق دانتي.. في رحلتيهما الخالدين، إلى الدار الآخرة..
