في هذا الكتاب يتناول الدكتور حسين الجزائري محطات مهمة في مسيرة حياته العلمية والعملية، إبتداءً من مولده في مكة المكرمة، مروراً بأكثر من خمسين سنة قضاها في حقل التعليم الطبي والصحة العامة، فهو من أوائل السعوديين المنخرطين في كلية طب القصر العيني جامعة القاهرة ثم كان اول طبيب سعودي يحصل على زمالة كلية الجراحين الملكية في لندن ليعود إلى بلاه ليزاول مهنة الطب، مبدياً مهارةً وتفوقاً، علمياً وإدارياً، ليُسند إليه ملف تأسيس أول كلية طب في السعودية عام 1969م، ويتولى عمادتها، فهو العديد المؤسس لكلية طب جامعة الملك سعود.
في عام 1975م عُيّن الدكتور الجزائري وزيراً للصحة في السعودية لمدة سبعة أعوام تلاها ترشيحه ليكون مديراً عاماً للمكتب الإقليمي لمنظمة الصحة العالمية، وفي كل الحالات بذل جهوداً مميزة وموفقة، وكان شاهداً على كثير من التحولات التي مرّت بها السعودية في مجالات الإدارة والصحة والتعليم الطبي، مما يجعل من سيرته وثيقة تاريخية وطنية، تستحق القراءة.
