هذا الكتاب الذي حققه الأستاذ الميمنى "من تأليف أبي العباس محمد بن يزيد الثمالي المعروب بالمبرد ، وقد جرى المبرد في هذا الكتاب على نحو ما جرى عليه في كتابه الكامل من إيراد مصفى الشعر ومنخول النثر ووائع الخطب وبليغ الرسائل وطريف الأخبار وغريب اللغة والنوادر.
وهذا النص لم ينشر من قبل بل لعله لم يمكن مما عرف من الكتب التى تداولها العلماء والأدباء مما خلفه القدماء عامة والمبرد خاصة على نفاسة الكتاب وجلالة قدر مؤلفه.
وقد عثر عليه الأستاذ الميمني- فيما يذكر - أثناء تطوافه بخزائن إستانبول في مكتبة أسعد أفندي.
