يقول كورش في نقوشه التاريخية بعد أن مكن الله له في الأرض وإعطاء كنوز المخابئ: "الآن وبما أنني وضعت تاج مملكة الفرس، وبابل، وأمم الاتجاهات الأربعة علي رأسي بمساعدة أهورا مازدا "الله"، أعلن بأنني سأحترم تقاليد، وعادات وأديان أمم إمبراطوريتي، ولن ادع أياً من حكامي وأتباعي، أن ستصغرونها أو يهينوها، مادمت أنا حياً. ومن الآن فصاعدا، لن افرض حكمي علي أية امة. فالجميع حر بقبوله، أو رفضه".
ويبرر مايكل هارت اختياره لكورش واحداً من المائة العظماء وأعظمهم محمد "صلي الله عليه وسلم" بقوله: "وعظمة كورش لا ترجع فقط إلي معاركه الضخمة ولا إلي توحيد هذه الدول المتنافرة. إنما ترجع أهميته إلي أن إنجازاته كانت نقطة تحول في التاريخ السياسي للعالم القديم، ولذلك فهو واحد من الذين غيرو مجرى التاريخ".
لقد كان كورش الحاكم العادل المتسامح ولا يزال مثلاً أعلي للكثير من حكام وقادة العالم القديم والحديث وخاصة في الغرب لذلك ستعرف في هذا الكتاب لماذا زار الإسكندر الأكبر قبر كورش في فارس ولماذا كان الرئيس الأمريكي توماس جفرسون يحتفظ بنسختين من كتاب "سيرة كورش وأخلاقه" ولماذا قال الرئيس الأمريكي ترومان "أنا كورش أنا كورش"، كما ستكتشف أنه في عصر كبار المؤرخين اليونانين مثل هيرودوت وزينوفون وأيضاً كبار الشعراء كهوميروس كان العداء شديداً بين بلاد اليونان وبلاد فارس فكان من الطبيعي ان ينسب كتاب اليونان للفاتحين الفرس كل نقيصة بل يحولوا الفضائل إلي نقائص ولكن كان الأمر مختلفاً بالنسبة لكورش الأكبر الذي يصف في أحد نقوشه أنه "الذي وفقه إله السماوات للحكم بالعدل والحق" وأنه "طاهر وصالح القلب واليد" بالتأكيد هذا الوصف هو الفخر ولكنه كان عن حق.
