الإمامة رياسة عامة في أمور الدين والدنيا لشخص إنساني وكونها رياسة عامة مفصولة عن ولاية القضاة في أمور الدين والدنيا وكونها رياسة في الدين ورياسة في الدنيا لشخص إنساني وبيان متعلق شخص الإمام الإنساني كونه أولاً شخصاً معيناً معهوداً من رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وثانياً لا يجوز أن يكون مستحق الرياسة أكثر من واد في عصر واحد بحق الأصالة احترازاً عن النائب الذي يفوضه الإمام عموم الولاية فإن رياسته عامة إلا أنها ليست بالأصالة وذلك لأن النائب المذكور لا رياسة له على إمامه وهذا ينطبق على تعريف النبوة يزاد فيه بحق النيابة عن النبي أو بواسطة بشر.
وفي هذا الكتاب المسمى بالكلام الجلي في ولاية أمير المؤمنين علي رضي الله عنه بغية الطالب ومنية الراغب، وعلى صفحاته حقيقة للدارس ومعارف لممارس في عيون ينابيع خلافة أمير المؤمنين علي بن أبي طالب رضي الله عنه خلف النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم. والخلافة ميراث الأنبياء ومنزلة الأصفياء وخلافة الله وخلافة رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، فهي عصمة وولاية وسلطنة وهداية لأنها تمام الدين ورجح الموازين. والإمام دليل للقاصدين ومنار لمهتدين وسبيل للسالكين وشمس مشرقة في قلوب العارفين وإليه سبب النجاة وطاعته مفترضة في الحياة وعدّة بعد الممات وعز المؤمنين وشفاعة المذنبين ونجاة المحبين وفوز التابعين لأنها رأس الإسلام وكمال الدين ومعرفة الحدود والأحكام حد سنن الحلال والحرام فهي مرتبة لا ينالها إلا من اختاره الله وقدمه وولاه.
فالولاية هي حفظ الثغور وتدبير الأمور والإمام الماء العذب على الظمأ والدال على الهدى والإمام المطهر من الذنوب المطلع على الغيوب الإمام هو الشمس الطالعة على العباد بالأنوار فلا تناله الأيدي والأبصار وإليه الإشارة بقوله تعالى: (فلله العزة ولرسوله وللمؤمنين) والمؤمنون علي رضي الله عنه وعترته فالعزة للنبي صلى الله عليه وسلم والعترة والنبي لا يفترقان إلى آخر الدهور فهم رأس دائرة الإيمان وقطب الوجود وسماء الجود وشرف الموجود وضوء شمس الشرف ونور قمره وأصل العزّ والمجد ومبدئه ومعناه ومبناه. وهكذا يتابع السيد حيدر الحسيني كلامه الجلي في ولاية أمير المؤمنين علي رضي الله عنه.
