تُعنى سلسلة "بحوث المكتبات والمعلومات" بالدراسات العلمية في مجال علوم المكتبات والمعلومات، وتعتمد على إصدار ما سبق نشره من البحوث والدراسات التي نشرت في الدوريات العربية في فنون هذه العلوم بمفهومها الشامل، وذلك تحت موضوعات وعناوين عامة جامعة تجمع ما تفرق من دراسات متشابهة حول موضوعات ذات طبيعة مستديمة وغير متغيرة بسبب تغير البيانات الأساسية أو التقنية.
وتشتمل السلسلة على عدد من الموضوعات التي استنبطت من طبيعة البحوث المنشورة، وقد وزعت المواد على مجلدات السلسلة تحت عناوين عامة جامعة لكل مجلد. ومن ثم تبويب المواد داخل كل مجلد بعناوينهاالأصلية التي نشرت بها في الدوريات، بحيث تتألف المواد في كل مجلد.
يشتمل هذا المجلد على أحد عشر بحثاً تتناول خدمات المعلومات التي تقدمها المكتبات ومراكز المعلومات، فيتناول موضوعات مثل: البث الانتقائي للمعلومات، والعلوامل الأساسية في قدرة المكتبات على تحقيق طلبات المستفيدين، وتطوير مهنة أمين المكتبة، واستخدام المستفيدين للمكتبات وفهارسها، وكذلك استخدامهم الدوريات، وبعض السلوكيات المعلوماتية، والخدمات المرجعية الإلكترونية.
