" تحدّثنا طويلاً عندما أخذني فارس في حضنه، وكان الوقت قد اقترب من منتصف الليل، أخذت أنشج كطفل ضل طريقه، فمسح دموعي ثم حملني إلى داخل البيت...
كنت ستلزقين الخميرة هنا، تصوّري أن لهذا المكان باباً وعتبة، ثم دخل وأنا أشعر بأنني خفيفة بين يديه قائلاً:
كنا سنجلس قليلاً هنا حتى يغادر الناس، ثم كنت سأحملك وأرقص بك، أرقص بك وندخل إلى غرفة النوم... وتابع:
أجل، هذه هي غرفة النوم. ماذا ينقصها؟ شبابيك، أبواب وأثاث ثم كناسة وتنظيف... كل هذا لا يهم طالما أن العروسين موجودين معاً في اليوم المقرر لزواجهما..
ما زلت أستمر في البكاء وقد جلس فارس على مقعد من حجر الخفان وأجلسني في حضنه:
لا أريد أن أخرسك، ولكنهما فرصة لكي نختبر عواطفنا.
لم أجب وإنما بدأت أفك له أزرار قميصه وهو مذهول، إلى ان أمسك يديّ وهو يؤكد لي بطريقة حزينة:
أحبك يا لينا، ولكني متطرّف في حبّك ولا أقبل أن يشاركني فيك أو في خيالك أحد."
