بات من الضروري اليوم ان نعترف اننا ازاء تراث سيَّري مليء بالمُدخلات والاضافات التي امتزجت مع ما فيه من الحقائق، لذا يتوجب علينا الشروع بإعادة الدراسة والتقييم لجميع الروايات الإسلامية وفق منهج علمي نقدي يقوم على فرز واستبعاد تلك الاضافات التي أُلصقت بالسيرة النبوية. ان التأمل في أحوال الرواة الأوائل والوقوف على طبيعة الظروف التي أحاطت بهم، وتباين مستوياتهم المعرفية وقدراتهم على الفهم والاستيعاب الدقيق لكل ما صدر عن النبي ص من أقوال وأفعال، ثم تباين قدراتهم في التعبير عنها وإيصال معانيها وفحواها وأفكارها ودوافعها الحقيقية إلى باقي المسلمين. كل ذلك يجعلنا نشك في امكانية هؤلاء الرواة التمكن من نقل دقيق لتفاصيل وأحداث السيرة. ثم ان هذا الخبر المنقول شفهياً سرعان ما تحول الى رواية مُدونة على أيدي المؤرخين مع بدايات العصر العباسي - بعد أكثر من مائة وثلاثين عاماً من وفاة النبي ص - ولم تسلم كذلك من التلاعب والاضافة والحذف تبعاً لأهواء وميول غير نبيلة وبدوافع شتى. ثم جاءت الدراسات الاستشراقية لتتوقف عند كل نص ورواية فتسلط الضوء على ما يخدم مصالحها عبر تفسيرات وأفكار غير موضوعية في أغلب الأحيان. لذلك وجدنا أنفسنا أمام مسؤولية كبيرة تدفعنا نحو إعادة كتابة السيرة النبوية المطهرة على وفق نقد التراث
