ينقسم الكتاب إلى أربعة فصول الفصل الأول بعنوان "تحولات النص البصري ويتناول الفنون البصرية واستعادات إشارية لمفاهيم بصرية والتلفزيون وتحولات النصوص البصرية، والكتاب وتحولات النص البصري، والفصل الثاني وفق بيان الهيئة، يتحدث عن الأدب والالتزام، أما الفصل الثالث بعنوان "النص وموسيقى الوجود" ويتناول الوجود من منظور المكان والزمان، وغنائية السرد، وتضاريس الموسيقى، الفصل الرابع بعنوان "العرب والنص الشفاهي".
ويعتمد المؤلف في هذه المقاربة على أدوات الفن باحثًا عن القواسم المشتركة بين النصوص المختلفة ومعتمدًا على علوم الجمال الشكلية والمضمونية، فالنص البصري لا يخلو من غنائيته وتجريده الخاص والنص المكتوب ليس بعيدًا عن الصورة والموسيقى تماهى مع المكتوب والمسموع والمتخيل والسينما وما يشابهها من أشكال إبداعية تمازج بين عناصر فنية ونصية مختلفة.
