عملنا فى هذا الكتاب على حصر المدونة الشعرية, للاشتغال عليعا, لاكتشاف الاغتراب, وكيفيات التشكل فيها, وهى مدونة للشعراء الرومانسيين العرب, مركزين على الشعراء: إيليا أبى ماضى, وإبراهيم ناجى, وأبى القاسم الشابى.
وقد اخترنا هذه الأسماء أمثلة لتحليل أشعارها, وذلك للحضور المكثف للأبعاد الاغترابية فى متونهم الشعرية, كما أنهم كانوا يمثلون مرحلة تحولية حساسة فى العمية الشعرية, إضافة إلى ارتباط الاغتراب بالرومانسية التى تحمل دلالات الهروب من الذات ومن المكان.
إن اقتران الرومانسية بهذه الأعلام الشعرية الشامخة عمق من البعد الاغترابى, وشجعها لمساءلة أشعارهم وتبيان التشابهة والاختلاف فى تجسيد الاغتراب. من هنا فقد اشتمل الكتاب على الموضوعات التالية: مفهوم الاغتراب والمنهج الموضوعاتى, موضوعات الاغتراب فى مدونة الشعراء, المعجم الشعرى فى شعر الاغتراب, الإيقاع الشعرى والصورة الشعرية, ملحق مدونة شعر الاغتراب عند: إيليا أبى ماضى, وغبراهيم ناجى, وأبى القاسم الشابى.
