The Handbook has been written in a unique format with greater emphasis on gynecology. The Handbook is a superb resource covering subjects in general gynecology, endocrinology, infertility, and gynecologic oncology. Issues pretaining to the nature woman are contained in chapters on menopause, urinary incontinence, and pelvic relaxation. The unique maternal demands of pregnancy and the dynamics of the evolving fetal compartment are reviewed in the chapters on physiology and fetoplacental development. Finally, the clumination of pregnancy, the emergence of the newborn infant throught the process of labor and dlivery, is presented with an overview of the physiologic return to the non-pregnant state in the post-partum period.
