هذا الكتاب، يتناول منطقة جبل عامل، التي تعد واحدة من أهم المناطق في لبنان، وذلك لموقفها المتميز من الأحداث السياسية التي شهدتها البلاد إبان المدة الممتدة ما بين عامي 1918- 1943، إذ أسهم العامليون بدور كبير في بناء دولتهم، شأنهم في ذلك شأن مناطق لبنان الأخرى من خلال مشاركتهم الفاعلة في الإنتخابات ومسألة الدستور وأزمة الرئاسة اللبنانية، فضلاً عن دورهم في مقاومة سياسة المحتل الأجنبي، وبما أن الدراسات المناطقية، تعد واحدة من أهم الدراسات الإنسانية لا سيما في الأونة الأخيرة بعد إزدياد الإهتمام بها كثيراً.
لذلك حظيت منطقة جبل عامل اهتمام الباحثين والمهتمين بالشأن اللبناني نتيجة بروز عدد من مفكريها الذين كان لنشاطهم الثقافي والفكري دور كبير في تطور المنطقة من خلال تسليط الضوء عليها من الناحية الجغرافية والسياسية والإجتماعية، وهذا ما احتواه هذا الكتاب في ثناياه.
إذ أثبت سكان منطقة الجبل على أنهم منطقة متماسكة على الرغم من السياسة الفرنسية القائمة على إثارة النعرات الطائفية بين مكونات المجتمع اللبناني منذ أن رسخت أقدامها في البلاد عام 1920.
كما شارك العامليون حالهم حال مناطق البلاد الأخرى في المجلس النيابي، إذ كان لهم الصوت المسموع والرأي المقبول في جلسات مجلس النواب، على الرغم من تمثيلهم البرلماني المحدود، وهذا ما جعلهم ينجحون في تعاملهم مع الفرنسيين تماشياً مع ما تقتضيه مصلحة البلاد.
