يأتى هذا الكتاب مساهمة فى تلبية حاجة ملموسة لدى المعلمين لمرجع يساعدهم فى معالجة صعوبة التعلم فى الفهم القرائى، بشقيه المعرفي والميتامعرفي، ونظمت مادة الكتاب فى أربعة أبواب: الأول يتناول المفاهيم النظرية لصعوبات التعلم عامة، ولافهم القرائى خاصة، والثانى يهتم بداخل، ومراحل، وأدوات التشخيص العام والنوعي لصعوبة الفهم القرائى وبعض المتغيرات المصاحبة لها، والثالث يسلط الضوء على تفسير المدخل المعرفي والميتامعرفي لصعوبات الفهم القرائى، بالإضافة إلى تجسير الفجوة بين تشخيص وعلاج صعوبة الفهم القرائى من خلال بعض النماذج الإجرائية التى ينطلق منها البرنامج المقترح، أما الباب الرابع فيترجم تلك الأسس والاستراتيجيات إلى جلسات علاجية.
