كتاب بكر يتناول في الواقع موضوعاً جديداً على المكتبة العربية هو العلاج بالموسيقى أو أستخدام الموسيقى كوسيط فاعل في عمليه تعديل السلوك للأطفال التوحديين مستغلين في ذلك الانجذاب غير العادي لمثل أولئك الأطفال للموسيقى الخفيفة بصفة خاصة، ويعمل من خلال ذلك الأسلوب على مساعدة هؤلاء الأطفال فى تنمية مستواهم النمائي في العديد من الجوانب المختلفة لشخصياتهم، والإسهام في تعديل سلوكهم سواء عن طريق إكسابهم مهارات جديدة، وصقلها، وتنميتها، أو إكسابهم بعض السلوكيات الاجتماعية المقبولة، أو الحد من جانب آخر من تللك السلوكيات غير المقبولة اجتماعياً التي قد تصدر عنهم في كثير من الأحيان. وعلى هذا الأساس يضم الكتاب بابين يتألف كل منهما من ثلاثة فصول، ويقدم في باباه الأول الأسس النظرية لهذا الاتجاه من خلال تقديم نظرة شاملة وصورة كلية لاضطراب التوحد، ويحدد كبف يؤثر العلاج بالموسيقى فى الأطفال التوحديين، والكيفية التي يتم بموجبها تعليم أولئك الأطفال ورعايتهم بينما يقدم فى الباب الثاني ثلاث دراسات تطبيقية تم إجراؤها في إطار هذا الاتجاه تفتح الباب وتفسح المجال أمام العديد من المحاولات الجادة التي تحاول استغلال الموسيقى كوسيط حيوي في مجال التربية الخاصة بشكل عام وللأطفال التوحديين بصفة خاصة، وتحقيق الاستفادة القصوى منها في هذا الصدد وهو الأمر الذى يجعل منه كتاباً لا غنى عنه لكل من يعمل في هذا المجال، أو يتعامل مه هؤلاء الأطفال من الباحثين، والدارسين ، والمعلمين، والأخصائيين، وأولياء الأمور، أو غيرهم..
