يسعى هذا الكتاب إلى دراسة التلقي العربي للسانيات الحديثة، ولذلك يندرج في سياق معرفي موضوعه قراءةُ قنوات هجرة المعرفة ودراسةُ تاريخ الأفكار. وَلِدقّةِ هذا المبحث وتشعب مسالكه، دخل الباحث إلى كلياته انطلاقًا من دقائقه، فكان الاتجاه إلى دراسة أثر فردينان دي سوسير في البحث اللغوي العربي، وذلك من منطلق أنّ دروسه في اللسانيات بمنزلة كتاب سيبويه في النحو العربي. وقد أتاح هذا الخيار المنهجيّ دراسة التلقي في كليته انطلاقًا من فحص مجهريّ لكيفيات تمثل دقائقه، فزاوج البحث بين مستويين من الاستقراء؛ جعل الأوّل للإلمام بالملابسات التي هيّأت لاطّلاع الدارسين العرب على النظريات والأفكار، وجعل المستوى الثاني للتَّفحص الداخليّ لأوْجُه تمثُّل الدارسين للنظريات وسياقات توظيفهم لها وكيفيات عرْضهم لأسسها. وتقديرُنا أنّ الفكر العربيّ في أشد الحاجة اليوم إلى هذه المراجعة النقدية، فبين منشأ الأفكار وتَمثُّلِها مساحةٌ من التفاعل تطرأ خلالها على الأفكارِ المهاجرةِ أعراضُ السياقات التي تستضيفها وتعيد إنتاجها على نحو ما.
