ينتزع أهمية من تنوع مواضيعه، وتعدد أغراضه ومقاصده، وإن أنتظمتها وَحْدةٌ عُضويَّة واحدة، ألا وهي همُّ الوطن، وقضايا الأمة، سواء المطالب اليومية، كالخدمات البلدية، والحقوق العمالية، أو القضايا العامة؛ كالدستور، وقضايا الإصلاح، بل حتى الأمور الفلسفية، لم تغب عن الكتاب، ويمكن القول بدون تحرج إنه قبسة من قبسات عصر التنوير، وما كان أطلق عليه زمن (صحافة الأفراد)، وأما السمة البارزة في أسلوب الكاتب ومنهجه فهي البساطة في غير ركاكة، والمباشرة في غيروهن ولا إسفاف، والجرأة في غير تهوُّر، والصراحة في غير إساءة، أو تجريح، فحتى الردود التي تعرَّضت له بالغمز واللمز والتجريح تنزَّه عن مجاراتها، والتزم بعفة اللفظ، ونقاء العبارة في رده عليها.
ومما سيلاحظه القارئ، أيضاً، أن القضايا التي تناولها الكتاب منها ما تَحقَّق فعلاً فصار واقِعاً مُعاشاً؛ كتملُّك الدولة للثروة القومية، (البترول)، وتوحيد شركات الكهرباء والماء، ومنها ما لم يتحقّق؛ كالنقابات، والدستور، ومنها ما بقي ملازماً جمودَه الذي كان عليه؛ كالبلدية، والخطوط الجوية، وغيرها من الخدمات، أما على الصعيد العربي فما زال الصراع محتدماً بين دعاة التحرر من الإستعمار والمنتفعين منه.
