يجيء المشروع الحالي: "وضع كتب مرجعية في قواعد اللغة العربية في مراحل التعليم العام في الوطن العربي" في إطار سلسلة وضع كتب مرجعية لمختلف مواد المعرفة يفيد منها مؤلفو الكتب والباحثون والطلبة.
ولم يتسن للمنظمة (إدارة التربية) إنجاز هذا المشروع إلا بعد أن قامت بحصر مفردات مناهج القواعد النحوية المطبقة في الأقطار العربية، وعملت على توزيع هذه المفردات على الجهات المعنية بوزارات التربية في الدول العربية، وبعد أن تلقت ملاحظات عليها عقدت اجتماع خبراء في نواكشوط بموريتانيا لدراسة المفردات والملاحظات عليها وتوزيعها على مراحل التعليم العام. وقام المؤلفون في مرحلة تالية بتأليف هذه الكتب اعتمادًا على المفردات المعدة مع مراعاة طبيعة كل مرحلة من مراحل التعليم العام، والتركيز على أساسيات القواعد النحوية الوظيفية في أثناء التأليف، والبعد عن الشذوذات والاستثناءات، والحرص على التدرج في تقديم المصطلحات النحوية من مرحلة إلى أخرى، والاستشهاد بالأمثلة الهادفة والتوجيهية والشواهد التي تجمع بين الأصالة والمعاصرة.
