جاءت شريعة سيد الأنبياء صلى الله عليه وسلم آمرة بمحاسن الأخلاق، وحثّ صاحبها المؤمنين على حُسن المزايا في فعله وكلامه، فدونت كلماته، وافردت بالتأليف، وكان من أجمل ما صُنّف في ذلك كتاب "الأحاديث الأربعين" التي انتخبها الحافظ زكي الدين عبد العظيم المنذري المتوفي سنة (656ه)، فجاءت دُرّةً في عقد محاسن الأخلاق .. حيث انتخب "أربعين حديثاً في فضل اصطناع المعروف إلى المسلمين وقضاء حوائجهم". وقد شرح الشيخ عبد القادر أحمد بن بدران الدومي الدمشق المتوفي سنة (1346ه) هذه الأربعين شرحاً لطيفاً، يصلح لأهل الوعظ والإرشاد، ولا يستغني عنه أهل العلم والطلاب، مسايراً لما أورده المنذري في إيراده لجملة من الأحاديث مما في هذا الباب، ووسمه بـ "الكواكب الدرية في شرح الأربعين المنذرية" وكان انتهاؤه من هذا الشرح سنة (1336ه) في سكنه في مدرسة عبد الله باشا العظم بدمشق.
وبين يدي القارىء تحقيق وتعليق الأستاذ محمد ناصر العجمي للنسخة الأصلية بهذه الأحاديث. تقع النسخة في (60) ورقة، وعدد الأسطر فيها يتراوح بين (28) و (31) سطراً، وهي بخط المصنف الدمشقي.
هذا، وقد قام الأستاذ العجمي بتحقيق هذه النسخة وتخريج أحاديثها تخريجاً متوسطاً مع الحكم على الإسناد، والتنبيه على الضعيف منه؛ فإن ذلك من الأهمية بمكان؛ مع أن الأصل في ذلك هو "الأربعين المنذرية" التي كثرت فيها الأحاديث مع جلالة قدر مؤلفها، وقد تبعه العلامة إبن بدران في شرحه هذا فأورد جملة من الأحاديث الضعيفة. من هنا سعى محقق هذا الكتاب على إخراج الأصل وشرحه، بما يشتمل عليه من فوائد وفرائد، مع التنبيه على الضعيف والمنكر ممّا لا تصح نسبته إلى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، وبهذا يحصل العلم بحال هذه الأحاديث.
