يشرح هذا الكتاب أساسيات الحاسب الآلي وعناصره المختلفة بأسلوب شيق يتم من خلاله التعرف على العناصر والمكونات الأساسية للحاسب والمهام التي يحتاج إليها السواد الأعظم من مستخدمي الحاسب، خاصة كيفية تقسيم وتهيئة القرص الصلب وكيفية تثبيت البرامج الأساسية كأنظمة التشغيل وبرنامج Microsoft Office والبرامج المختلفة وكيفية صيانة البيانات وحمايتها والحفاظ عليها، إلى جانب طريقة الإتصال بالإنترنت وحماية حاسبك من مخاطرها. ولم أنس أن أبدأ الكتاب بالتعرف على مكونات الحاسب وكيفية تجميع حاسب جديد وصيانته، كما أنهيت الكتاب بعرض مجموعة لا بأس بها من المشاكل التي تصادف المستخدمين وحلول كل منها، وكذلك الرد على عدد وافر من السئلة الشهيرة التي تجول بعقولهم. وما كان مني هذا إلا لأنني رأيت اهتمام السواد الأعظم من كتب الصيانة الموجودة حالياً بجزء من المكونات المادية Hardware مع إهمال البرامج ومشاكلها المختلفة، وهو ما يحتاج إليه معظم المستخدمين. وقد حاولت جاهداً البعد عن الإختصار الشديد الذي لا يصل بالمعلومة كاملة إلى القارئ وكذلك البعد عن الإطناب والثرثرة التي تؤدي بالقارئ إلى الملل، ومن ثم توصلت إلى هذا الكتاب، الذي يحوي بين طياته المعلومات المتنوعة التي لا يمكنك التوصل إليها إلا من خلال المراجع الكبيرة وذلك بأسلوب مبسط وسلس يعتمد على طريقة التعليم خطوة بخطوة مع عدم تجاهل عقلية القارئ القادرة على التمييز والإبتكار.
