• من أشهر القراء المصريين، قرأ القرآن على الشيخ أحمد عبد العزيز الزيات، وألف كتاب «فريدة الدهر» بعد اطلاع واسع على أمهات كتب القراءات العشر، وهو حنفى المذهب، متصوف على الطريقة البيومية، وله تلاميذ وكتب كثيرة في التصوف، وجاور بالمدينة المنورة ست سنوات متصلة
• وُلد فى 15/ 11/1914 م بناحية كفر العرب القبلى - مركز قويسنا - محافظة المنوفية - مصر
• تخرج من مدرسة المعلمين - وأكمل دراستة الأزهرية بعد تمام حفظ القرآن الكريم وعُين مدرسا للتعليم الأولي
• أحيل للمعاش سنة 1974 م حيث تفرغ لخدمة القرآن الكريم، حتى تُوفي مساء يوم الخميس 15 شعبان 1430هـ
• تلقى القراءات السبع من طريق الشادبية على يد الشيخ عبد الشافى عثمان دوبان.
وتلقى القراءات العشر من طريق طيبة النشر على يد فضيلة الشيخ أحمد عبد العزيز الزيات عن عبد الفتاح هنيدى عن الشيخ المتولى رضى الله عنهم جميعا.
وكان منهجه فى تحصيل العلوم أو فى التأليف أو فى الإقراء شدة التدقيق فى صحة المعلومة ولهذا كان دأبه الحرص على اتباع التحريرات فى الإقراء وعدم التفريط فى أى حرف أو أى جهة مهما كان.
• مؤلفاته كثيرة جدا تزيد على الأربعين كتابا، منها:
- فريدة الدهر فى تأصيل وجمع القراءات العشر
- التحفة المرضية فى القراءات السبع
- النفحة المسكية فى القراءات الثلاثة من طريق الدرة
- كفاية المنصف فى فهم التصوف

إنه ديوان تعددت منابعه واختلف مؤلفوه.. ولكنه اتفق في موضوعه ومصبه.. فهو جميعه من أشعار التصوف والعشق الإلهي وحب النبي "صلوات الله عليه" والتعليق بها. وقد جاء في ثلاث أبواب كان الأول من دواوين الأكابر مثل حسان بن ثابت ومحيي الدين بن عربي والحلاج والبوصيري وإلى جانبها الأشعار المنتشرة في كتبهم. أما الباب الثاني فكان في الاستغاثات والمائح وهو الجزء الأكبر من الكتاب ليأتي الباب الثالث والأخير يحتوي على متفرقات من الأشعار.
