ياسر الزعاترة صحفي، وكاتب فلسطيني، من مواليد مخيم عين السلطان في مدينة أريحا عام 1962م. حاصل على بكالوريوس تجارة واقتصاد من الجامعة الأردنية عام 1984م، وهو متزوج وله خمسة من الأبناء والبنات. عمل في الصحافة كصحفي ومراسل وكاتب منذ العام 1986.
سيرته العملية
عمل ياسر الزعاترة منذ العام 1989 رئيسًا لتحرير مجلة "فلسطين المسلمة" التي كانت تصدر في لندن، واستمر حتى عام 1998م. ثم عمل بعدها كاتب عامود يومي في جريدة "الدستور" الأردنية، واستمر حتى منتصف العام 2018، نشر خلالها آلاف المقالات، كما نشر آلاف المقالات الدورية وغير الدورية في عدد من المواقع والصحف الأخرى، من بينها "الحياة" اللندنية، "الشرق" القطرية، "العرب" القطرية"، موقع "الجزيرة نت"، وصحف ومواقع أخرى.
من مؤلفاته
صدر له كتاب الظاهرة الإسلامية قبل 11 أيلول وبعده المنشور في بيروت في 2004، وكتاب لماذا يفشل الإسلاميون سياسيا؟، المنشور في بيروت 2019.

يمثّل هذا الكتاب محاولة من الكاتب لوضع اليد على معضلة بالغة الأهمية في سيرة الحركات الإسلامية بمختلف تصنيفاتها، وهي تلك المتعلقة بالوعي السياسي؛ كثقافة من حيث المبدأ وكسلوك وممارسة كذلك، ويؤشر على ما أنتجه ذلك من خسائر يمكن أن تتواصل إذا لم تُعِد تلك القوى والحركات النظر في منظومة الوعي السياسي لقادتها وكوادرها، والتي تبدأ من قراءة السيرة النبوية بطريقة جديدة لا تحشرها فقط في إطار الغيبيات، بل تتعامل مع شقها الأهم كنشاط إنساني غاية في الإبداع، إضافة إلى مقترحات أخرى تتعلق ببناء حالة الوعي الضرورية لتجنب العثرات والخسائر.
في ذات الإطار يقرأ الكاتب نماذج من الأخطاء السياسية التي وقعت فيها القوى الإسلامية، وما ترتب عليها من خسائر، وكلها ذات صلة بقلة الوعي السياسي، وفهم موازين القوى ودقة تقدير الموقف السياسي، إلى جانب الدولة الحديثة وطبيعة تكوينها وآليات فعلها.
الكتاب يحمل رؤية جديدة لم يسبق أن طُرحت بهذا المستوى من الوضوح والصراحة من قبل، ومن المتوقع أن يثير الكثير من الجدل في الأوساط المعنية بظاهرة "الإسلام السياسي"، بخاصة المؤيدون.
