لم يقف الأصوليون عند المعنى اللغوي الضيق للنصوص الشرعية التي تناولوها إنما عمدوا إلى التحليل والتأويل بغية الوصول إلى الدلالة ذات الصلة بالأحكام التي تحتملها تلك النصوص؛ ويمثل الإعراب أحد وجوه التأويل عند الأصوليين. ولما تعددت مذاهب الصوليين الفقهية تعددت أقوالهم في إمكانات الإعراب وتبع هذا التعدد تنوع في دلالات الأحكام الفقهية.
ونظراً لهذا التعدد والخلاف بين الأصوليين واللغويين في إعراب القرآن، سعى المؤلف / الدكتور "كمال أحمد المقابلة" إلى الإقتصار في دراسته هذه على (آيات الأحكام)، ومن هنا هدفت الدراسة إلى البحث في أثر تعدد الإمكانيات الإعرابية، واهتمت بدراسة المباحث الفقهية عند الأصوليين، فاتخذت من آيات الأحكام أنموذجاً، وتم للمؤلف معالجة ذلك في ثلاثة فصول. وأما الفصل الأول فيعرض لأثر القرآن الكريم في القاعدة النحوية من جهة، وأثر الدلالة النحوية في تفسير القرآن من جهة أخرى. ثم يعرض للإمكانات الإعرابية بوصفها مصدراً من مصادر الدلالة. ويهتم الفصل الثاني في البحث الدلالي عند الأصوليين، حيث يدرس منهجهم في استنباط الدلالة ويحاول إبراز موقع الإمكانات الإعرابية في دراسات الأصوليين. وخُصص الفصل الثالث لدراسة وتحليل نماذج تطبيقية حول تعدد الإمكانات الإعرابية وأثرها في توجيه دلالات الأحكام الفقهية في دراسات الأصوليين والمفسرين والنحاة.
وعليه، تنبع أهمية هذه الدراسة من كونها تعرض لآراء الأصوليين والفقهاء والمفسرين في تعدد الإمكانات الإعرابية وتناقش هذه الآراء في أمثلة وتحاول تحليلها في أمثلة أخرى مقارنة بعضها ببعض مستعينة بآراء النحاة محاولة الخلوص إلى الرأي الراجح وفق أسس صحيحة.
