إذا كان الهدف الرئيس من عقود المشتقات هو تقليل المخاطر، إلا أنها في الحقيقة هي التي عظمت المخاطر ثم عملت على إدارتها، حيث أن دورها الأساسي هو تحويل المخاطر من مستثمر لآخر دون أن يقتضي ذلك بيعا للأصول محل التعامل. إن تصميم المشتقات المالية لم يتم إلا بغرض المتاجرة في مخاطر السوق، حيث يجري بيع المخاطر وشراؤها ونقلها من أولائك الذين يتوجسون خيفة من نتائجها إلى أولائك الذين يسعون في طلبها ولديهم الرغبة في تحملها مقابل الثمن الذي يتقاضونه مسبقا، وقد كان من نتيجة ذلك أن انتشرت المقامرات بصورة مقننة وأصبحت المشتقات قنابل موقوتة يؤدي انهيارها إلى انهيار منشآت الأعمال بل وأسواق رأس المال. بناءا على ما تقدم يحث الإسلام على الأخذ بكل ما فيه من مصلحة وتقدم المسلمين، ولا ينقص من قدر المسلمين أن يأخذوا بأساليب علمية أو فنية تزيد في كفاءتهم وخبرتهم الفنية في إدارة الأموال واستثمارها، بل إن ذلك يعد مطلبا شرعيا، ينسجم مع حفظ الأموال والتي هي من الضرورات ويحث على تجنب كافة أشكال الخسارة.
