أستعيد في هذا الكتاب مقالات ودراسات وحوارات نشرت في جريدة السفير "صوت الذين لا صوت لهم"، لأكشف من خلالها عن وجهين عايشتهما بعمق: وجه الصحافة الثقافية ووجه الفن في بيروت، الوجه الأول اكتسبتُ من خلاله سرّ التعرف إلى وهج الحياة الفنية، والوجه الثاني ناضلتُ معه في خطوات الدفاع عن الصورة المشرقة لذاتيتنا الثقافية، في أزمنة التصدي لجنون الحروب المفتوحة على أهوال المتاريس والدمار وفقدان الذاكرة، كانت الثقافة حينها هي رئة التنوع والإنفتاح، وسط تحديات العيش والإصرار على الإنتاج الفني ورفض الإنقسام.
"كتابات مستعادة" هي جزء من ذاكرتي وذاكرة فنون بيروت في آن واحد، وهي المؤشر على تفتّح مداركي، في تلمّسها لفروع شجرة العائلة الفنية اللبنانية التي أنتمي إليها، لذا حاولتُ من خلال كتاباتي المستفيضة عن إتجاهات فنون، أن أجمع بعض حكايات نشأتها وهواجس تجاربها وصراعاتها الفنية، التي ترسّخت في معارض بيروت وصالوناتها، للكشف عن علاقة الرؤى الطليعية لفنون الحداثة بنسيج الواقع وهواجس العصر.
كنتُ ولم أزل واحداً من الحالمين بقدرة الفن على تجاوز الإهمال الذي لحق بذاكرتنا الفنية نتيجة غياب متحف وطني للفن الحديث، من شأنه أن يعرّف الأجيال الجديدة على إبداعات فنوناً.
لذا جمعتُ في هذا الكتاب بعض أطياف الذاكرة المنسية لتجارب أكثر من جيل فني، كي يشكل في صورته الوثائقية مدخلاً للتعرف إلى محتويات ما يمكن أن أسميه متحفاً بلا جدران.
إنه المتحف الذي طالما طالب فنانونا بإنشائه منذ مطلع القرن الماضي ولم يتحقق، وهو لا يزال ينبض في ضمائرنا كحلم، وسنظل نطالب به علّه يبصر النور.
