صوت شعري فريد، لا يشبه سوى ذاته؛ افتتح- مع آخرين- سبعينيات الشعر المصري العربي، لكنه سرعان ما انطلق- خارج السياق- في تأسيس سياقه الخاص وتجربته الفارقة في تعدد الأصوات، وتعدد البنية الشعرية، وإعادة صياغة الصفحة الشعرية على غير مثال، وفتح فضاء القصيدة على مصاريعه، بلا قيود أو حدود، وأربعة أعمال شعرية تمثل الجزء الأول من ديوانه الكامل، تؤسس للخروج على كل الأنماط، بلا سعي لتأسيس نمط جديد؛ خروج على ثنائية "التفعيلي" و"النثري"، وعلى كل الأعراف السابقة أو الراهنة، إنه "سفر خروج" شعري، من المعروف إلى المجهول، من المملوك إلى العصي على الامتلاك، تلك هي تجربة رفعت سلام.
