إن " المنظومة البيقونية " في علم مصطلح الحديث لصاحبها عمر بن فُتوح البيقونيِّ - نظمٌ مباركٌ ، قد بلغ الغاية في الإشتهار ، وعمَّ نفعُهُ فحفظهُ الكبارُ قبل الصغار ، وما ذلك إلا لأنه قد ضمّ بين ثناياه ما يحتاجه الطالب في ( علم المصطلح ) ، ولأهميته تصدّر لشرحه ثُلّةٌ من العلماء قديماً وحديثاً ، فممّن شرحه : العلامةُ الشيخ محمد بن عبد الباقي الزرقاني المالكي ، المتوفي سنة ( 1122ه ) وغيره الكثير . وممن أدلى بدلوه في ذلك ، مُحدث الشام وعالمها ، العلاّمة محمد بدر الدين الحسني نسباً ، الدمشقيُّ ولادة ، المتوفى سنة ( 1354ه ) ، فشرحه ووضّح مسائله ، وبيّن مقاصده ووسائله ، فيأتي على البيت في النظم فيتبيّن المعاني ، ويوضح المجمل حتى تستبين المرامي ، مع تحقيق بديع ، وتنبيهات وفوائد ، وعرض الأقوال ومناقشتها ، وتمييز صحيحها من ضعيفها ، وراجحها من مرجوحها ، مُدعماً بأقوال الحفاظ ؛ كإبن الصلاح ، والنووي ، وإبن حجر العسقلاني ، والسَّخاوي ، وغيرهم .
تم التقديم لهذا الكتاب بمقدمة تشتمل على ترجمة المؤلف بقلم تلميذه العلاّمة محمود العطار ، ثم تلتها دراسة للكتاب ومنهج المؤلف فيه ، كما تمّ تذييل الكتاب بالفهارس العلمية التي تسهّل على مطالعه الوصول لبُغيته .
