يتناول هذا الكتاب بالعرض والتحليل أوضاع المسرح فـي نحو 45 دولة منتشرة على أصقاع العالم قاطبة، خلال الفترة ما بين 2008- 2010، حيث يجتهد عدد من النقاد والمسرحيين، والخبراء والإعلاميين، فـي نقل ما يجري فـي بلدانهم من توجهات جديدة فـي المسرح، وما يتم تشكيله من الفرق، وعروضها وملامحها المميزة، وقد ترجمت النصوص من الإنجليزية إلى العربية، رغم أن معظمها كتب فـي لغة بلده أول الأمر.
وهذه هي المرة الثانية التي يصدر فيها مثل هذا الكتاب الشامل والمتخصص فـي نسخته العربية، ولم يكن ليرى النور لولا الدعم المتواصل لهيئة الفجيرة للثقافة والإعلام والقائمين عليها، ومقر الهيئة الدولية للمسرح فـي الفجيرة، وهو بحق يشكل إضافة مهمة للمكتبة العربية، التي تفتقد غالبا إلى كتابات تواكب الوضع الراهن للمسرح فـي العالم، وأشكاله الجديدة، وتنوعه الخلاق، ويبدو بذلك ضروريا للباحثين، وطلبة العلم، وعشاق المسرح فـي الوطن العربي.
