Islam is the only religion Allah has favored for us.
However, this does not mean that we should evade tolerance towards other religions, especially our brothers in humanity, the followers of the others heavenly religions; we mean the People of the Book. These religions are mentioned in the texts of the Glorious Book. This tolerance and the duty that follows of protecting the People of the Book physically, socially, and educationally are all firm principles repeated several times in the Holy Book.
The basic supposition, in this book, upon which we build up our incessant call for the unity and unification of our Islamic nation, is that Muslims all over the world, regardless of their sensitive differences and sectarian conflicts, believe in one book. This book is the Glorious Quran and its unified verses. They all believe in this book and consider it their only book, the miraculous, and the unchangeable.
So then what could explain (let us not say justify) the discord and the differences in the practices and even in the concepts which we have observed since the death of Prophet Muhammad (p) up to now?
Humbly, we believe nothing does except the human weaknesses, which Allah mentioned in His Book: Allah doth wish to lighten your (difficulties): For man was created Weak. (4:28)
Since the Glorious Book is the same for all Muslims, then it is impossible for the differences to appear except in one case; it is the case of interpretation.
We sought in our choice of the texts and the events stated in this book, that they should serve the following three considerations:
1- Giving the reader a thorough image of Islam and the various developments that accompanied it. 2- Paving the reader’s way to do further personal research about the topic in general or about dierent subtopics, which the book has dealt with. 3- Presenting clearly the basic points, which the traditional books of history have, intentionally or unintentionally, neglected.
These facts about “the Prophet’s succession” are essential for understanding and for surmounting the unaccepted disagreements, which are no longer justifiable as long as we can refer to the basis of our faith, I mean to Allah, starting from His Glorious Book to the Prophet’s teachings just as the purified Ahl Al-Beit memorized.
