قد يتساءل المرء ألم تكن مدارسنا ومناهجنا تعلم مهارات التفكير من قبل، ثم أي تفكير هو الذي نريد أن نعلمه؟ وما هو التفكير أصلاً؟ وما هي أنواع التفكير؟، هذا ما يقدمه كتابنا والذى يسعى لتقديم إجابات عن هذه التساؤلات وقد ركز في عرض أنواع التفكير المختلفة على الجانب الحياتي العملي أكثر من الجوانب النظرية، فقد عرض بعض المفهومات الأساسية المتعلقة بالتفكير مثل مفهوم التفكير وأهميته وطبيعته ومهاراته وأنواعه، وكذلك أفراد فصلاً للتفكير الإبداعى نظرا لأهميته، فناقش مهاراته ومراحله ومستوياته وأنواعه وأساليب توليده، مثل: العصف الذهني، وأسلوب التفجير المركزي. وذكرنا الخصائص المهمة للشخص المبدع، وكيفية مساعدة المرء حتى يصبح مبدعا، وأيضاً ناقش التفكير التنظيمي، وعلاقته بالكون المنظم، والقوانين العامة الكونية، والخطوات التي ينبغي أن يتبعها الفرد لكي ينظم تفكيره.
واستعرض الكاتب التفكير الناقد بكونه من أشهر أنواع التفكير، فعرض أهم تعريفاته ومهاراته واستراتيجياته ومواصفات المفكر الناقد، وغير هذا الكثير قدمه المبدع مؤلف الكتاب مثل: التفكير المنطقي باعتباره قلب التفكير الناقد، وأيضا ناقش التفكير الاستنباطي والقياس المنطقي بأنواعه المعروفة (التصنيفي، والشرطي، والمنفصل)، وتعرض لأنواع التفكير المختلفة ليتعرف القارئ عليها، ويعرف متى يستخدمها، ويستطيع أن يختار نوع التفكير المناسب في المقام المناسب، فإن لكل مقام مقال.
