غالي شكرى غالب ( منوف، المنوفيه، 12 مارس 1935 - باريس، 10 مايو 1998 ) ، كاتب وباحث و ناقد و مؤرخ مصري كبير اشتهر بأبحاثه وكتبه النقديه الكتيرة. حصل على الدكتوراة من جامعة السوربون في فرنسا عن موضوع " النهضة والسقوط في الفكر المصري الحديث " الذي أشرف عليها المستشرق الفرنسي المشهور جاك بيرك. رأس تحرير مجلة " القاهرة ". تم تكريمه في مصر بجائزة الدولة التقديرية في الآداب سنة 1996.

في كتابه عن (سلامة موسى وأزمة الضمير العربي) يرتكز غالي شكري على مقاربة (معرفية – نقدية) لمشروع سلامة موسى الفكري الذي كان يصطف على جانب واحد من جيل الرواد في مصر بما فيهم طه حسين والعقاد ونجيب محفوظ وآخرون.
في الكتاب يضع المؤلف خطة ترتكز إلى مجموعة من النقاشات تبدأ برؤيته إلى التيارات الجديدة الوافدة على مصر ولا سيما الصراع بين اليمين واليسار وبوادر بزوغ الفكر الإشتراكي، وهنا يسجل المؤلف رؤيته لمراحل تطور المجتمع العربي والمصري في ظل مفاهيم جديدة منها "الإشتراكية الديمقراطية التعاونية" و "الإشتراكية العربية" و "الإشتراكية العلمية" وغيرها. بعد ذلك ينتقل إلى تبيان دور سلامة موسى واليسار بشكل عام على المستويين الفكري والإجتماعي في تكوين المرحلة الحضارية السائدة في عصره مثل الدعوة إلى وحدة القوى الإشتراكية في مصر والعالم العربي، ورفع كافة القيود غير الديمقراطية عن الفكر اليساري وتنقية أجهزة الدولة الإشتراكية من أغلال الرواسب القديمة، أي أن سلامة موسى في هذا الكتاب كان غاية ووسيلة في آن واحد.
توزع الكتاب على ثمانية عناوين رئيسية هي: 1- رائد الفكر العربي، 2- هؤلاء قالوا له، 3- في معبد التطور، 4- مدينتي ليست فاضلة، 5- الحية .. ومأساة الإنسان، 6- الإنسان .. ذلك المعلوم، 7- الفتان ضمير العالم، 8- طريقنا حرية الفكر.
