في منذ أكثر من عشر سنوات، نشرت كتابًا بعنوان Medecine de la Presonne، وقد أشرت إلى أنه يمكن للأطباء أن يجدوا قوانين الحياة والصحة في أحد أصحاحات الكتاب المقدس، وأضفت أني أعتزم نشر كتاب آخر حول هذا الموضوع، ومن حينها يسألني الكثيرون مرارًا وتكرارًا عن هذا العمل ومدى تقدمه، وواقع الأمر، أني لم أنكب على هذا العمل بحماس، بل لقد وصلت إلى طريق مسدود، ومن ثم بدأت في قراءة الكتاب المقدس كله، مدونًا كل الفقرات التي أرى أن لها علاقة بالطب، والطب النفسي، والأمراض وسلوكيات الحياة.
وأول اكتشاف لي كان ما يتمتع به الكتاب المقدس من ثراء لا يضاهي، وما الكتاب المقدس الإكتتاب عن دراما الحياة الإنسانية، وعنا نحن الأطباء الذين نجتاز طيلة يومنا وسط هذه الدراما (المأساة)، وعلينا أن نستفيد من هذا الأمر، وبذلك نرى الإنسانية المطلقة في الكتاب المقدس.. وسمة بارزة أخرى يتمتع بها الكتاب المقدس، ألا وهي الواقعية، فهو يرينا الإنسان كما هو، وكما نعرفه، في وضاعته وفي هظمته، في يقينه وفي شكوكه، في طموحه وفي فشله، وياله من أمر مشوق للأطباء أن يجروا أن الكتاب يصف أمراضًا مختلفة.
