تعرضت الجزائر سنة 1830 الى اخطر اشكال الاستعمار وهو الاستعمار الاستيطاني الفرنسي والذي قامت سياسته على ( الفرنسة-التنصير-الاندماج)، ومع مطلع القرن العشرين فكر الشعب الجزائري في تغيير اسلوب كفاحه المسلح الذي تعدى السبعون عام ليأخذ الصبغة السلمية السياسية، ولعل اهم الحركات التي ظهرت منتصف ثلاثينات القرن الماضي نجد الكشافة الاسلامية الجزائرية كحركة وطنية تناضل دفاعا عن الشخصية الجزائرية. و إرتكز هذا العمل على رصيد ارشيفي هام و واسع متواجد على مستوى (مركز أرشيف ما وراء البحار بآكس أون بروفانس) الفرنسية و الارشيف الجهوي لولاية وهران الجزائرية وعلى مجموعة لا بأس بها من الشهادات الشفوية.
