من المعروف أن ما يميز الإنسان عن الحيوان هو الفكر، الذي ساعد في تأسيس العلوم والحرف (مقدمة ابن خلدون، ص٢٨٧ )، ذلك أن العلم، بكل تقدمه الناشئ من الماضي والحاضر، هو المسؤول عن تشكيل مستقبل الإنسانية، مسترشدًا بالفضائل العامة ومكتملًا بها. وفي الوقت الحاضر، يعتمد مستقبل المجتمع البشري على كوكب الأرض وعلى هذا الكون؛ إذ يؤكد لنا التاريخ هذه الحقيقة، في كل وقت وحين، خصوصًا ونحن على أعتاب الثورة الصناعية الخامسة، حيث بلغت البيانات الضخمة والذكاء الاصطناعي تطورًا هائلاً يمكن أن يغير وجودنا تغيرًا جذريًا.
والسؤال هنا: ما مدى استعداد العالم الإسلامي لمواجهة هذا التحدي؟ وما رؤية العصر الذهبي للعلوم الإسلامية في هذا المستقبل؟ هذان سؤالان رئيسيان تتناولهما هذه الدراسة البحثية.
ولو أجرينا تحليلًا موضوعيًا للعالم الإسلامي اليوم، يمكننا أن نرى أن المشكلة لا تتمثل في الاستثمار المالي في المجال العلمي؛ بل استثمار وتوجيه الروح الجماعية للمجتمع تجاه المجال العلمي، الذي يمكن أن يعد المجتمع الإسلامي بمستقبل من الأداء، وفقًا لمعايير الابتكار، وإعداده للمنافسة مع العالم الغربي. فمقاييس الاستيعاب المحددة عادة، في ما يتعلق بالقدرات البحثية مع التدفق المتزايد للعلماء، لا تمثل الحل للحداثة العلمية، بل يكمن الطريق إلى الحداثة، بالنسبة للمسلمين، في الاحتفاظ بالمبادئ الإسلامية الأساسية، وتشجيع العقليات التي تروج لتبادل الأفكار بُحرية، في إطار مؤسسات اقتصادية طبيعية، ما يفضي إلى تعزيز الابتكار العلمي.
