هذا الكتاب يقدم أطروحة، في نقد كتاب متخصص، طرح قضية التطور، والمضامين الفلسفية، والدينية، التي تتعلق بها.. وكاتب ذلك الكتاب، هو ثيودوسيوس جريجوريفتش دوبزانسكي العالم الروسي الشهير، وهو عالم وراثة، عرف بأنه من دعاة التطورية البيولوجية، ولما كانت النسخة المتوفرة، من كتاب دوبزانسكي باللغة الإنجليزية، فإن أثرها قد كان محدوداً على قراء العربية.. ولم نكن لنهتم بالتعليق عليها لو ظل الأمر كذلك. لهذا، لابد لي من الإشادة بالجهد الكبير، الذي بذله د. فاروق محمد إبراهيم، في ترجمة ذلك الكتاب الهام، إلى اللغة العربية. ذلك أن الكتاب رغم صغر حجمه، كتاب عميق، أخذ على نفسه أن يناقش أصول الأشياء، وأمهات القضايا، التي إذا اتضحت يمكن لمختلف المشاكل السياسية، والإجتماعية، أن تأتي في إطار معرفي متسق، يفضي بنا إلى رؤية متكاملة للحياة، ودورنا فيها، كأفراد وكجماعة، تقطن بيتاً واحداً، هو هذا الكوكب الصغير المسمى الأرض. كما يجب أن نشكر مجلة اركماني الإلكترونية، ونترحم على روح صاحبها المرحوم بروفيسر أسامة عبد الرحمن النور، فقد قم بنشر ترجمة د. فاروق، ودعاني ضمن عدد من المهتمين، للمشاركة في الحوار حول الكتاب.. ولما كنت ليس من المتخصصين في علم الأحياء، فإنني لم أتقحم المسائل العلمية البحتة، وإنما نقلتها كما ذكرها العالم دوبزانسكي، وقد كان مجال تدخلي وإضافتي، هو المناطق التي تتقاطع فيها الرؤية البيولوجية مع الفلسفة والدين، وما يمكن أن يقدمانه نم إضافة للعلم المادي في هذا المجال.. وبالفعل قمت بالتعليق على خمسة فصول من الكتاب، نشرت المجلة أربعة منها، وحالت وفاة البروفسير دون نشر الخامس، ثم إني قررت أن أكمل التعليق على الفصل السادس والأخير، وانشرها جميعاً في هذا الكتاب، الذي بين يدي القارئ الآن.
