في مجموعتها القصصية الجديدة "عطر الحب" تقترب غادة م. سليم من مفهوم الشعرية في القصة فيأتي النص قريباً من الكلام المنظوم، بما يتفتق عنه من لغة ذات تكثيف مجازي، واستعاري، فضلاً عن توخي الكاتبة السلاسل الإيقاعية في السرد، وتوظيف النغمة، زائداً القدرة على تضمين الكلام الكثير من الإيحاء والإيماء الذي تتصف به لغة الشعر. ففي القصة المعنونة "عطر الحب" تستخدم الكاتبة صوراً كتلك التي يعتني بها الشعراء أكثر من الروائيين، حيث عفوية السرد وتدفقه الحر" ... لا يحدث هذا للجميع فقد اختارهما القدر دوناً عن غيرهما ليصفا بعدئذ ما تعني الجنة على الأرض، وماذا يعني التقاء روحين، اتحدتا كغيمتين أبرقت وأنارت الكون، وفاح منها عطر الحب، وأمطر معاً شذراً وورداً، فتنمو على الأرض عشبة الغرام لتشي بقصتهما، وليبحث عنها العشاق وليرتفعا خارج الزمن وخارج المجرة". هكذا تستدرج الكاتبة إلى مسرح الأدب ثيمات الحب لتتحرك في عوالمها الخاصة خارج الزمان والمكان، وقد اعتمدت مستوى جمالي من اللغة البصرية المتلاحمة مع شهية سردية جميلة، انست عبر المعمار الفني للقصة القصيرة، وفي عالم مرجعي حداثي؛ فأبدعت في خلق مادة قصصية ممتعة وشفافة تحيل إلى أكثر من معنى.
قدم للمجموعة بكلمة أ.د. سيّار الجميل ومما جاء فيها: " ... إن قصصها كلها تهدف إلى إحداث تأثير قوي مهيمن على القارىء بامتلاكه عناصر الدراما، أو تحكي عن مواجهة خلفية عن الذات، وثمّة صراع درامي في القصة، إذ تتصادم قوى متضادة أو متنافرة أو في بعضها متلاقية أو متقابلة تخلق التوتر لدى القارىء كما وجدت أن قصص غادة سليم كثيراً ما تعبّر عن صوتها المنفرد، كمن هو معتقل في سجن إنفرادي، كما في "الهاوية" ، أو تعبر عن صوت منفرد من نوع آخر في واحة تقع في أقصى العالم، كما في "عطر الحب" ولم أجد تأثير أية حكايات شعبية، أو إعادة صياغة لها.
تضم المجموعة اثنتا عشر قصة قصيرة جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: 1- الإفتراس، 2- التلويحة، 3- كذبة نيسان، 4- كرة الأماني، 5- القلب الوحيد، 6- روبرت، 7- شفق قطبي، 8- كاردينيا، 9- الملاك المشاكس، 10- عطر الحب، 11- زائر القلب، 12- خيانة .. نهاية الحكاية.
