إن هذا القرآن لا تزيغ به الأهواء، ولا تشبع منه العلماء، ولا يَخْلَق على كثرة الردِّ، ولا تنقضي عجائبه، أقسم الحق فيه بالشمس والقمر ومواقع النجوم، وتكلَّم عن المشارق والمغارب، ومنازل القمر، وكلٌّ في فلكٍ يسبحون، وألمح إلى حركة الأرض السريعة بحركة الجبال التي تمرُّ مرَّ السحاب، وقال جل وعلا: {صُنْعَ اللَّهِ الَّذِي أَتْقَنَ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ}. لما طُلب من العلامة مفتي الديار المصرية محمد بخيت المطيعي أن يؤلف بحثاً في هذا الموضوع عند تفسيره لأول سورة (الأنعام) فألَّف وأبدع، وكان ذلك بتوفيق من الرحمن سبحانه، ولكن الحسناء لا تعدم ذامّاً، فاعترض عليه فريقان: فريق ممن جهل هذه الحقائق، والمرء عدوُّ ما يجهل، وكأنَّ لسان حال المؤلف يقول لهم: وكم من عائبٍ قولاً صحيحاً وآفتُهُ من الفهمِ السقيمِ وفريق من الحاقدين الحانقين على هذا الدين، ممَّن يَدَّعون تعارضاً بين آيات القرآن الكريم، ففلَّ حدَّهم وأظهر عوارهم، وردَّ عليهم زيفهم بتأييد من المولى سبحانه، الذي تكفَّل لهذا الدين بعدولٍ يحملونه، وينفون عنه تحريف الغالين، وانتحال المبطلين، وتأويل الجاهلين. وهذه الثورة العلمية المتسارعة لم تزد أهل الإيمان إلا يقيناً وإيماناً، وتعظيماً لصاحب الشرع المنيف صلى الله عليه وسلم، الذي قال قبل أربعة عشر قرناً عند وفاة ابنه: «إن الشمس والقمر لا يخسفان لموت أحدٍ ولا لحياته، ولكنهما آيتان من آيات الله، فإذا رأيتموهما.. فصلوا». والعجيب: أن أكثر هذه الآيات الكونية يتم الكشف عنها بواسطة علماء الغرب، وربما كانت سبباً في إسلام بعضهم، ولقد أدرك الشيخ المطيعي رحمه الله ضرورة من يقوم بالبحث في الآيات القرآنية التي تتعلق بعلم الهيئة والفلك، ووفَّقه الرحمن لإخراج هذا السِّفْر النافع؛ ليكون مفتاح خير لمن بعده.
